THC vs CBD: what's the difference?

THC is the intoxicating one; CBD isn't. Here's how they differ, why GURU uses both, and what the milligrams on a label mean.

THC and CBD are the two best-known cannabinoids, and they come from the same plant. The big difference: THC is intoxicating, CBD is not.

THC

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is the compound that produces the “high.” It works mainly by binding to CB1 receptors in your brain and body, part of your endocannabinoid system. In California, one edible serving is 10mg THC, and a package can hold up to 100mg.

Every GURU gummy is 100mg THC, scored into ten 10mg segments, so one segment is one serving.

CBD

Cannabidiol doesn’t produce a high on its own. It interacts with the endocannabinoid system differently than THC does, and it’s the most common partner to THC in cannabis products.

Why GURU uses both

Every GURU blend includes CBD alongside THC, in different amounts per vibe, from 10mg per gummy in Focus up to 50mg in Sleep. Each blend also adds other cannabinoids like CBG, CBN, CBC or THCV. You can see every milligram in the blend table in Cannabis 101.

The takeaway

When you read a label, THC is the number that tells you how strong a serving is. With GURU, that number is always 10mg per segment, and the rest of the blend is printed right next to it.
